It is 3:56 am and here at work it is a s---, q---- night. I will not even so much as type these words so as to avoid tempting fate to bring us a terrible new admit or something. Both of my patients have been q---- for most of the night, so here in my little corner of the nurse's station I am taking some time to blog. It's just something simple so that I can leave it when I have to check my brittle diabetic's blood sugar or check my post-cath patient's groin and not loose my train of thought. Enjoy.
A few things I've done in my life (the highlighted ones):
1. Started your own blog- duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
2. Slept under the stars- I couldn't see the stars because it was pouring rain and I was sleeping under a picnic table with my best friend. It was pretty hilarious, actually. I've slept under the stars up in the mountains, too, and it's fabulous.
3. Played in a band- I'm assuming playing in symphonic band for most of my life counts, although I have always wished to play in a rock band, too. I'm totally a closet rock star.
4. Visited Hawaii- We're going this year!!! Hooray!!!
5. Watched a meteor shower- Yes, while at girls' camp one summer. Every time I saw a meteor, I wished for Ricky to fall in love with me (the boy I liked at the time). He never did fall for me... apparently a meteor shower does not wield that kind of power.
6. Given more than you can afford to charity- If family members can be considered a charity, then yes. Several times.
7. Been to Disneyland- Yes, and all my dreams came true. lol.
8. Climbed a mountain- This should be obvious simply based upon who I am married to.
9. Held a praying mantis
10. Sang a solo- What a nightmare. I hate solos. I even had to sing it in competition; it was for 9th grade choir and the choice was to sing a solo in front of the choir or sing it at the competition. I chose to sing in front of strangers rather than in front of my peers... far less embarrassing, for sure.
11. Bungee jumped
12. Visited Paris
13. Watched a lightning storm at sea
14. Taught yourself an art from scratch- I'm not quite sure what this means, but if cooking is an art, then I pretty much taught myself, yes. Of course I learned from other people, but I never figured out what I was doing until after I was married and had my own kitchen and my very own husband to cook for.
15. Adopted a child
16. Had food poisoning- Yup, it was the Mexican Poop Chicken (as I so affectionately refer to it) after one of Jacob's triathlons.
17. Walked to the top of the Statue of Liberty- Ok, I've been to the Statue of Liberty but couldn't go up there because we didn't have enough time (high school band trip). Close enough.
18. Grown your own vegetables- All the time growing up. Hopefully soon I can plant my own garden. I would be in heaven.
19. Seen the Mona Lisa in France
20. Slept on an overnight train- Does an overnight bus count? I can't really say I actually slept much that night, however.
21. Had a pillow fight- When you have 3 sisters, it's practically inevitable.
22. Hitch hiked
23. Taken a sick day when you’re not ill
24. Built a snow fort- I grew up in Minnesota, for heaven's sake. I practically lived in snow forts for 6 months out of the year.
25. Held a lamb
26. Gone skinny dipping- Yes, and it was awesome. I can't believe I went most of my life without it.
27. Run a Marathon
28. Ridden in a gondola in Venice
29. Seen a total eclipse
30. Watched a sunrise or sunset- Once my best friend and I stayed up all night talking and being silly like girls do... we had the brilliant idea of going up on the roof to watch the sunrise. We climbed out the window and onto the roof and had a splendid time until the entire household woke up because of our footsteps.
31. Hit a home run
32. Been on a cruise
33. Seen Niagara Falls in person
34. Visited the birthplace of your ancestors
35. Seen an Amish community
36. Taught yourself a new language
37. Had enough money to be truly satisfied- This is always a work in progress, but I can say that I have learned to be happy and content during the difficult times and to recognize abundance even when I perceive lack.
38. Seen the Leaning Tower of Pisa in person
39. Gone rock climbing
40. Seen Michelangelo’s David
41. Sung karaoke
42. Seen Old Faithful geyser erupt
43. Bought a stranger a meal at a restaurant
44. Visited Africa
45. Walked on a beach by moonlight- such good memories.
46. Been transported in an ambulance- ...to accompany a patient, yes.
47. Had your portrait painted- Best Christmas present Jacob ever gave me! I love it.
48. Gone deep sea fishing
49. Seen the Sistine Chapel in person
50. Been to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris
51. Gone scuba diving or snorkeling- In Mexico and Florida... loved it!
52. Kissed in the rain- All thanks to the fantastic thunderstorms of Missouri and Florida!! Kissing in the rain is so hot. I love it.
53. Played in the mud- Mud wrestling!!! YEAH!
54. Gone to a drive-in theater
55. Been in a movie
56. Visited the Great Wall of China
57. Started a business
58. Taken a martial arts class
59. Visited Russia
60. Served at a soup kitchen
61. Sold Girl Scout Cookies
62. Gone whale watching
63. Got flowers for no reason- Jacob is so good at this.
64. Donated blood, platelets or plasma
65. Gone sky diving
66. Visited a Nazi Concentration Camp
67. Bounced a check
68. Flown in a helicopter
69. Saved a favorite childhood toy- Joshua has it now. My beloved teddy bear, Teddy.
70. Visited the Lincoln Memorial
71. Eaten Caviar
72. Pieced a quilt- I made a quilt by myself when I was 8. I gave it to my 2nd grade teacher.
73. Stood in Times Square
74. Toured the Everglades
75. Been fired from a job
76. Seen the Changing of the Guards in London
77. Broken a bone- I'm assuming stress fractures count.

86. Visited the White House
87. Killed and prepared an animal for eating
88. Had chickenpox
89. Saved someone’s life- I'd like to think that this is what my job consists of as a nurse.

91. Met someone famous
92. Joined a book club
93. Lost a loved one
94. Had a baby
95. Seen the Alamo in person
96. Swam in the Great Salt Lake

100. Seen Mount Rushmore in person
101. Learned to play an instrument

Apparently I need to visit Europe in order to claim the rest of these. This is a very incomplete list, if you ask me, but I'm too brain dead to add my own clever items. Now I will go find some other more productive way to pass the time before morning labs. Thank goodness for blogs and Diet Coke on q---- nights.

I like your answer to giving more than you can afford to charity (family). Jacob will keep that one a constant for you :)
I may have to do something like this list. I don't think I've done much on the list because I've never been to Europe either.
