Tagged... by me

I haven't tagged myself in a while, so here goes...

BABY TAG!

.Where were you when you first found out that you were pregnant? In the bathroom. Where else?
.Who was with you? My baby! It was so exciting. Jacob was there, too, but he was asleep in the bedroom. It was 5 something in the morning. I actually kept it a secret from Jacob for a few days just for fun.
.How did you find out that you were pregnant? Well, I peed on a stick and it came out positive.
.What was your first reaction to finding out you were pregnant? Sooooo excited! I took a picture of the positive test with my phone and looked at the picture all day long during clinicals and then at work.
.Who was the first person you told? Jacob, of course. After him, I think I told my sister a month or two later.
.Did you plan to get pregnant? Yes, it was just pretty crazy that it only took a few weeks to get pregnant once we decided to try.
.Did you tell everyone else right away? No. We waited for my family to come into town on St. Patrick's Day when I was about 11 weeks along. I told them I had a St. Patrick's Day gift for them, which thoroughly confused them. They opened the gift to find two baby bibs- one that said "I Love Grandma" and one that said "I Love Grandpa." They were quite puzzled and said something like, "Oh... thanks... we'll, uh, save this for when you have... WAIT! ARE YOU.....?!?!?"
.Was everybody happy for you? They were thrilled!! This was my parents' first grandchild and my maternal grandparents' first great-grandchild.
.Did you go out and celebrate? Jacob and I had our own celebration on the couch when I told him. No, not like THAT. We savored the moment and sat there talking and dreaming about it for a while. When I told my family, we went out to dinner that night and my parents celebrated by telling everyone they knew that I was pregnant.
.Did you want to find out the sex? Yes!! The suspense was too much for me to handle. Although I think next time I might try being surprised... if I can stand to wait that long.
.What was the sex? Boy! The first Cannon grandson and the first Geddes great-grandson!
.Did anyone throw you a baby shower? My sister, and it was fabulous.
.Did you get any outfits at the baby shower that you just knew that you wouldn't put on your baby? Are you kidding me? We're talking about the Rectors, here.
.How much weight did you gain? 25 lbs exactly.
.Did you lose all of the weight that you gained? Yeah, and then some... I lost the 25 and then another 20 or so... now I'm wondering how to gain some of it back.
.Did you get any stretch marks? Very few, and you can't even really see them. THANK GOODNESS. Let's hope my luck holds out with the rest of my pregnancies.
.What did you crave the most? All kinds of things. It depended on the moment.
.Did you crave anything crazy? Mmm, not really.
.Who or what got on your nerves? The only thing I can remember is getting really annoyed with Jake's brothers while playing board games. I'm competitive to begin with, and their antics exacerbated it. Other than that, I was actually a very mild pregnant woman. Jacob will attest to this. Although I did cry while playing Axis & Allies. hahaha.
.Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? No, thankfully. When I was about 5 days past my "due date" they found a trace amount of protein in my urine and worried that I was developing pre-ecclampsia. They made me collect my urine for 24 hours (not fun, remember Kylee? lol) and they threatened me with induction, which I was terrified of. Fortunately it was a false alarm. Other than that my pregnancy was a breeze.
.Where and when did you go into labor? I was in my living room at home when I started to feel funny after eating an entire frozen pizza. Jacob and I had just gone on a scooter ride, during which I instructed him to hit all the bumps he could see. Earlier that day, my midwife had stripped my membranes, then I came home and made love, and then I took a long walk. You see, I was ALL about inducing labor at that point. But I think it was the scooter ride that put me over the edge. (Oh, and I later barfed up the entire pizza when I was at 4 cm.)
.Did your water break? My midwife broke it when I was at 6 cm. Oh how I missed that cushy little bag of water... it sure did speed up the labor, though.
.Who drove you to the hospital? Jacob did. The contractions were so strong that I thought I might give birth in the car. However, much to my horror, I was only at a 3 by the time we got to the hospital.
.Who was in the room when you gave birth? Jacob (who gets all the credit for helping me through labor), my midwife, the L&D nurse, and a CNA that I recognized from somewhere but still cannot remember how I know her. haha.
.Did you go early or late? 12 days late! It was just right.
.How long were in labor for? Just over 22 hours.
.Did you have any drugs for the pain? No. It was the hardest and most gratifying thing I have ever done.
.Did you go natural or have a C-section? You mean vaginal? Yes, I "went vaginal." The pushing was actually my favorite part of labor. I couldn't feel any pain and it was kind of exhilarating.
.What was your first reaction after giving birth? RELIEF. Then joy, euphoria, etc.
.How big was the baby? 8 lbs 1 oz 19 in long. Perfect.
.Did your husband cry? No, he actually laughed and took pictures of everything. I was too tired to cry and too dehydrated to shed any tears anyway.
.What did you name the baby? Joshua
.Does his name have any significant meaning? Yes, actually... Jacob's brother, Joshua, died when he was 18 months old. His parents took a trip to Israel and visited Jacob's Well, where they wished for a son to heal their broken hearts. Nine months later, my husband Jacob was born. The name Jacob means "the supplanter," or "to take the place of." We figured it was only fitting to give our first-born son Joshua's name.
.Did you have any visitors? My mother- and father-in-law.
.Did the baby have any complications? No, he was quite healthy and strong.
.How old is your baby today? One!!!!
.When is the next one coming? Whenever he or she pleases. (No, I'm not pregnant yet.)
.If you could, would you do it all over again? Yes. There's nothing in the world like it.

I tag: Danielle, Allyn, Melanie, Karli, Barbara, Kylee, Amy, and anyone else who wishes to join the fun. Now get to work all of you!!!! :)

That's an amazing story about Jake's parents and his brother. I am constantly amazed and touched at how the Lord really does watch over us and give us exactly what we need.

It really is fun to hear everyone's baby story!

Great idea! I had a lot of fun just thinking back on my experiences. It is so cool to, everybody has such a different story! I remember that pizza place where you told your parents...we just happened to be there! I will never forget you Dad's face! Priceless...a lot like my Dad's face when I told him.

Love it! I am still amazed that you did a natural birth. I love the significance of Joshua's name, too.
